Katharina Smets

Katharina Smets (she/her) is an audio maker and researcher who uses documentary material for live performances and podcast productions.

Katharina works as an independent maker in Belgium, the Netherlands, the US and the UK. She teaches audio storytelling and just finished a PhD in the arts on the attitude of the audio documentary maker (UAntwerpen and Royal Conservatoire, ARIA). She co-curated the first editions of Oorzaken, the festival on audio stories in Amsterdam and is the proud co-founder of Meeting of Independent Radio Producers MIRP.
