Catherine Winter

Catherine Winter (@c_e_winter) is an editor at APM Reports.

She joined Minnesota Public Radio in 1987 as legal affairs reporter and then produced stories and live programs on rural issues for MPR's Mainstreet Radio team. She later joined American RadioWorks as a producer and editor. Her recent work includes editing several podcasts: In the Dark , which explored the police investigation into the kidnapping of an 11-year-old boy; Unretirement , with Chris Farrell; Inside Appalachia from West Virginia Public Broadcasting; and Us & Them , which tells stories from America's culture wars. Catherine's national awards include the DuPont Award, two Silver Gavel awards from the American Bar Association, the Unity Award, and the Peabody Award. She has a master's degree in journalism from UC Berkeley and a master's in English and linguistics from the University of Minnesota Duluth, where she taught writing and journalism. She writes for and edits the Ask a Master Gardener column for the Duluth News Tribune.
