Ben Williams
Ben Williams is an actor, sound designer, and director in NYC.
He has been a member of the acclaimed experimental theater company Elevator Repair Service since 2004, performing in and designing many of their hit shows, including the award-winning Gatz, which has played over 30 venues on 5 continents. His sound designs for ERS shows have won an Obie Award, a Lucille Lortel Award, and a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award. Ben is also a founding member of Minor Theater with Julia Jarcho, performing in their show Grimly Handsome, which won an Obie Award for Best New American Play. Other collaborators include: Lily Whitsitt, Christina Masciotti, Suzanne Bocanegra, Sibyl Kempson, Kate Benson, The Wooster Group, Big Dance Theater, Rich Maxwell and the NYCPlayers, Geoff Sobelle, Julie Atlas Muz, and many others. Recent work includes Studio Créole, created with John Collins, Ngugi wa Thiong'o, and Rem Koolhaas for the Manchester International Festival. Ben's original work Mind on Heaven continues to tour. He produces and curates category : other, where he has collaborated on works by Jillian Walker, Mallory Catlett, Rafael Sánchez, John Jesurun, Anna Kohler, and poet L.S. McKee. Visit him online
