Andrea Gutierrez
Andrea Gutierrez (@AndreaGtrrz) is a writer and audio producer in Los Angeles. She will co-facilitate the 2019 New To Audio Meetup with Ariana Martinez, welcoming new audio-makers & subverting the existing audio "playbook" through experimentation and peer collaboration.
Andrea is drawn to stories about the intersections of gender, race, class, and ability in arts and culture. She currently produces interviews and features for The Frame from KPCC. Her work has appeared in print, digital, and audio in various outlets, including BBC World Service, The Current (CBC), Bitch, Los Angeles Review of Books and more. In 2019, Andrea was named an AIR New Voices Scholar and a finalist in KCRW’s 24-Hour Radio Race, and she completed the ACTIVATE Arts Advocacy Leadership Program as a cultural policy fellow.
Andrea received an MFA in creative nonfiction at the University of California, Riverside, and is an alum of the Transom Traveling Workshop and the VONA Voices Workshop for writers of color. Prior to her career in media, she spent almost 15 years as a higher education administrator.
