The War and Peace Broadcast: 35 Years Later
by Brian DeShazor and Christopher Sprinkle (WBAI, 2005)
Kathy Dobkin was a jack of all trades at WBAI in New York City (a host, receptionist, and active in the drama and literature department) when she led a station-wide effort to produce what was then the longest continuous broadcast in radio history: five straight days, 24 hours a day, of War and Peace, unabridged. The reading featured an astonishing group of readers including some of the most eminent writers, actors, and artists of the day.
