At 24, Lance Rice was on schedule to become another sad statistic in the heroin epidemic sweeping through rural Massachusetts.
But then one night, in a drug-fueled stupor, he robbed the home of Nina Rossi - a local artist and recovering alcoholic. That event set off an unlikely process of recovery and redemption.
Lance and Nina: An Unlikely Story of Recovery and Redemption won the Best News Feature award at the 2014 Third Coast / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition. It was produced by Karen Brown with editor Sam Hudzik for New England Public Radio.
