The Intersection takes an unflinching look at a changing Bay Area through the lens of a single neighborhood corner.
For Season One of the podcast, producer David Boyer spent a year at the heart of San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood: Golden Gate Avenue and Leavenworth Street. The Tenderloin has the highest density of children, seniors, and families in the city. It also has the highest concentration of drug dealers.
Episode 4, "Drugs," explores the corner's open-air drug market from many different perspectives: the dealers, the police, the neighbors, and the addicts.
How did David work to earn the community's trust? And, what Bay Area intersection will he explore next season (hint: Google buses)? Find out, in our behind-the-scenes interview.
