Mairéad Cullen worked in community and local radio for ten years before returning to university to do a postgraduate diploma in radio and television production. After receiving first class honours, she began making short radio documentaries. Mairéad made short documentaries for Ireland's National broadcaster RTE radio and in 2011 she received funding from the Simon Cumbers Media fund to travel to Kenya to make a documentary about how some Kenyan communities are replacing Female Genital Cutting with an Alternative rite of passage.
Michael McNamara worked in I.T before going to university in 2008 to study Music Technology, graduating first in his class. At university he met producer Mairéad Cullen and had the opportunity to work on several short documentaries as sound editor. Also he worked on New Beginnings by Mairéad Cullen as sound editor and composer. Michael hopes to return to university in the future to complete a Masters of Arts in Music and Media technologies.
