Anchor Dreams: The Passion of Scoop Nemeth
Brian 'Scoop' Nemeth has a singular goal: to become "the black Bill O'Reilly."
2015 / Noel Black / Jake Brownell / KRCC, USA
Brian 'Scoop' Nemeth has a singular goal: to become "the black Bill O'Reilly."
And he's gotten closer to his dream than anyone thought he could. Despite the challenges of Asperger's, Brian has built a following as a commentator through YouTube videos and public access TV.
From their radio show/podcast Wish We Were Here , Noel Black and Jake Brownell bring us the story of a man they met while he was selling erotic poetry on the streets of Colorado Springs, and who now has an Associate's degree, a line of swimwear, and no plans to slow down.
How might stories from Colorado Springs stand in for "Anywhere, USA?" And how did Noel and Jake tread the fine line of laughing with - and not at - their subject? Read about it, in their behind-the-scenes interview.
See a slideshow of Scoop's poetry (NSFW!) and watch videos of his newscasts, here.
You can listen to all episodes of Wish We Were Here over at their website - or subscribe in iTunes or your podnabber of choice.
