Alex Kotlowitz is a regular contributor to the New York Times Magazine , The New Yorker , and This American Life , among other publications.

His bestselling book, There Are No Children Here was selected by the New York Public Library as one of the 150 most important books of the 20th century. His documentary The Interrupters received an Emmy, the Independent Spirit Award for best documentary, a DuPont-Columbia Journalism award, and was selected by The New Yorker and Entertainment Weekly as one of the top ten films of 2011.
